"Deadwood's Addition"

Star Shuttle Deluxe

City of Deadwood, SD - June 2006 - There's a new trolley on the block! Specialty Vehicles delivered a new Classic American Trolley to the City of Deadwood in November, 2005. After customizing it with the name "Deadwood Trolley," it began its route in January 2006.

This Supreme built trolley seats a total of 30 passengers and is equipped with a wheelchair lift that accommodates an additional two passengers. The newest Deadwood Trolley joined a fleet of six trolleys the City already owns. These trolleys are crucial to the city's infrastructure because of its gulch position, resulting in a shortage of parking. Many of the hotels and motels are located on the out skirts of town and rely on the trolleys to provide transportation for their guests.

The trolley takes a fixed route lasting one hour costing only $.50 per ride. Within the route, the trolleys make 35 stops at various hotels, motels, and casinos around the city to make it easier for passengers to roam around town. Rider response to the trolleys has been phenomenal. Last year alone the City reported a rider ship of 268,000 people. Even the drivers are enjoying the trolleys. They say it's the "most comfortable ride they have driven in years."

The City of Deadwood chose a Classic American Trolley because of the best quality for the price. The City's long-term plan for the Deadwood Trolley is to keep it in regular rotation for the next seven years and then have it replaced.
