Waikoloa, HI - May 3, 2006 - On January 11, 2006, Waikoloa Village received the first of two Chance Morgan Tramstar LFT Trams. The tram started delivering its riders on February 1, 2006 and has continued since then. The tram provides a means of transportation to and from Kings' Shops, and designated properties within Waikoloa Beach Resort. It also, allows visitors to view scenery along the Tramstar route within Waikoloa Beach Resort properties comfortably.

Each tram carries a total of 48 passengers: 20 in the power car, and 28 in the trailer. It also meets ADA requirements with a lightweight, retractable wheelchair ramp and two forward-facing wheelchair positions

The trams route within the Waikoloa Beach Resort starts at Kings' Shops, then to the Shores, stops at the Waikoloa Colony Villas, goes back to the Shores, stops at the Hilton Waikoloa Village, and returns again to Kings' Shops. The cost to ride the tram is a small fee of $1.00 per trip.

They decided on this tram because they had seen the same tram on other islands in Hawaii and really loved the look of it. Both the drivers and the riders have had positive responses to the tram because it allows them to have fun and be active at the Waikoloa Beach Resort. Debbie Parmley, Vice President of Waikoloa Village says, "The Tramstar is a fun vehicle to ride, especially with the view along the route." Their long term plans for the use of the tram is to add a second tram when the new Queen's Market Place opens next year. They are looking forward to many years of fun transportation with the Tramstar LFT.
