Orlando, FL - February, 2006 - Traveling the International Drive Resort Area of Orlando has never been easier. Thanks to 15 new Classic American Trolleys, International Drive and its surrounding areas can be reached conveniently and economically. The International Drive Improvement District recently took delivery of 15 Supreme built Classic American Trolleys, putting all 15 of the vehicles into service during December 2005. Mears Transportation Group is operating the vehicles and will continue to do so for the next 5 years.

Each trolley seats 41 passengers with a total capacity of 54 which includes standees and two wheelchair positions. Dailey trolley fares begin at $.25 for seniors and $1.00 for adults, per ride. Kids under 12 ride free. Unlimited ride passes are also available for $3 a day or $16 for a 14-day pass. During 2005, the trolleys carried an impressive 2,057,663 riders which equates to 376 riders per trolley per day.

The trolleys travel throughout the International Drive Resort Area with two routes: the Green Line and the Main Line. The Green Line begins and ends on International Drive but primarily travels along Universal Blvd. with 22 stops approximately every 20 minutes. The Main Line travels the majority if International Drive with 85 convenient stops arriving every 20 minutes. The trolleys operate 8AM to 10:30PM every day of the year.

The response to the trolleys has been incredibly positive. "They are fun, unique, convenient and festive," says Luann Brooks, Executive Director for the International Drive Improvement District. "It is a very economical way for visitors to navigate through our tourist corridor without having to worry about renting a car or paying parking fees." Brooks also notes that the trolley drivers' enthusiasm towards the vehicles has been terrific.
