"15 Passenger Buses, FMVSA Approved"
Washoe County, Nevada - August, 2006 - Now that the FMVSA has deemed 15 passenger vans unsafe for the transportation of juveniles, Washoe County, Nevada had to find an alternative. The County released a bid for 8 buses to replace the vans, and Specialty Vehicles prevailed.
Each vehicle seats 14 passengers plus the driver. The Midbus features a Chevrolet commercial cutaway, air conditioning, all galvanized steel body, power steering, tinted windows, chassis air, rear emergency door, individual seats and more.
These buses are not used to transport the public. Rather, they are being used by the County's Juvenile Services Division for transporting juvenile work crews to their work sites. These vehicles are easy to operate, they accommodate the right number of passengers, and they are serviceable at any Chevrolet dealer.
The buses are assigned permanently to the Juvenile Service Division but are available on a limited basis to other departments if the need for multi-passenger transportation arises.
For more information on the activity style Midbus and FMVSA approved vehicles, please contact Specialty Vehicles at 702-567-5256.
